The Notepad resource was developed by dsdfamilies to be used to support young people in asking the questions they may have. It is to a clinical tool for use in the DSD (and related conditions) clinic. It is the outcome of a project funded by the British Society for Paediatric and Adolescent Gynaecology.

The resources have 5 elements, the Notepad itself and 4 supporting resources. Each element features a QR code to bring users back to this page for digital access.

The resources:

1. Printed Notepads to be used in clinic with young people - also available here digitally

2. Supporting Resources:

a) Why the Notepad and How to Use it?

b) Guidance to Answering Notepad Questions – (you can connect with https://www.dsdteens.org/ to find further supports and information)

c) ‘Talking about good sex’ for professionals

d) Through my eyes’ - recognising and investing in the diverse needs and challenges of young women from a black and Asian background

The Notepad has been designed to begin to equip young people with the tools to ask the questions they really have. These questions have been developed by young people living with DSD working with dsdfamilies. They are intended to start a conversation – and to encourage young people to voice their own concerns.

The notepad resource was shared at the Joint RCOG/BritSPAG Annual meeting in March 2024. You can view the slide presentation from this event here, presented by dsdf Trustee Caroline Sanders.
